Hong Kong’s maritime heritage ensures that Tin Hau, 天后 Celestial Empress, Goddess of the Sea, and patron saint of fishermen, has a strong and loyal following in Hong Kong.
On her birthday, locals flock to the more than 70 temples dedicated to her, to pray for safety, security, fine weather, and full fishing nets during the coming year.
Festivities in Hong Kong include a three-hour parade featuring nearly 30 fa pau (floral wreaths) groups, lion dancers, and dancing groups and marching bands from local schools.
The College Club will celebrate with a buffet dinner followed by a performance by Rising Star Dance Group. See photos from their delightful performance at The College Club in February 2016.
This is the final special event in our beloved clubhouse, before we move on to a new chapter in the Club’s life. We hope you will join us! Non-members are welcome!
